As ISN, we have a long history of reaching out to help our team members in need and even, as evidenced last year by our Hurricane Katrina Relief effort, other communities. This desire to help is directly aligned with our people value and we are delighted to announce that the Lakeland site has agreed to join forces with the local Habitat for Humanity program. On September 9, we will have our kick-off rally and wall raising on the house assigned to us. Our goal is to have the house ready for its new owner by Christmas.
Habitat for Humanity helps people who might not otherwise be able to afford homes become homeowners. They are required to spend several hundred hours working on other homes before theirs is even started. They have a small, interest free mortgage and those payments go into building other homes. Through the use of volunteer labor, the homes are constructed from slab to roof.
The company is sponsoring the build through the use of sales tax dollars that the state of Florida rebates to the company though a special program. This creates a win-win for everyone involved.
We have many team members already signed up and we hope that virtually every one in Lakeland will participate over the next several months. The company has agreed to fund 4 volunteer hours per person per month and will supply beverages and food at the work site.
We are happy to be contributing to our community in a very tangible way and truly appreciate all the team members who will be involved in this worthwhile project. We will keep everyone informed as to our progress.
